Photos for digipak

We were supposed to go film at Wynwood on Monday but then we changed the day to Friday but now we are changing the day to some time next week since we don't have many days of school that week. I really wanted to continue editing because I did have a lot of footage but I felt like I should wait till I get the shots at Wynwood so I can incorporate those clips evenly throughout the music video. So for now I'm going to be working on the website and digipak.

My friend Amanda is letting me use photoshop on her laptop since I don't have it and i'll be doing some editing of the photos on there. I took a lot of pictures the first day of filming so I do have photos to edit.

So this is a photo that I edited. I just adjusted the brightness, contrast, and curves. But I felt like I wanted to see more red since his album name is Heartbreaker. I looked up how I can changed certain parts a specific color since I wanted to change his outfit to red.

 This is how it turned out. I think it looks really cool and goes with the kind of theme I'm going for. I still have more photos to take and editing to do but once I'm done editing the color I'm going to put it into After effects to add text.

Editing

I started editing today and I'm so excited. Editing is my favorite part and it's the one thing that I feel super comfortable and have a lot of experience with. I'm going to be using After Effects CC for this video. Even though I want to get more footage at Wynwood, I decided to import everything now and start seeing what I can do with the footage I have. I just added some scenes a aligned it with the song. This is a super rough draft but this is what I made in like 10 minutes. All I did so far was fix the coloring, added the 360 degree rotation clip which I slowed down to make it more dramatic. I also applied a small glow effect. I then started the music video with Koree and his friends and interchanged it between two angles. I still want to add some text of the song and credits in the beginning. Like I said this is a rough draft that I put together really fast

For the edited version I added the vibrancy effect and the brightness effect. I also have a plug in called Magic Bullet Looks and it's a software that you use to edit color so I used that to change the color of the clips. The colors pop way more after I edited it and it all just looks way more appealing

Filming Day #1

Koree and I decided to go with the song M.I.A. Today my friend Amanda and I went to Koree's house to film. There were a lot of other people there because he wanted to include some background people in the music video. I told Amanda to come with me because I had the idea to film with two cameras instead of one so we would have different angles of the same scene. One camera would be on the ronin (camera stabilizer) and the other camera would be hand held. I'm so happy we filmed with two camera because I know it's going to look so cool in the music video. I'm going to insert the two angles from one scene.

I know the footage itself doesn't look great right now but with effects such as vibrancy, brightness, and fixing the color, it's going to look so cool. 

Everything we filmed today was at his house but in different locations. I filmed in 2 places near his pool. I then filmed outside with all of his cars and we were also able to use the car lights to brighten up the shot. I also got shots of him in his car and then filmed more at the basketball court. I actually had started to get worried because we got to his house at around 4 and it was getting really dark, however, I did purchase a light ring for my camera through amazon and it was a good thing I did because I did have to use it when it got darker. I had so much fun filming. We are also planning to go to wynwood on Monday to get some photos there and film more scenes as well. 

 Here's one of the shots at the basketball court. This video was my first attempt of a 360 degree rotation with my ronin. It looks so bad but that I think that it's so cool my ronin can rotate like that.

Digipak Research

So I've been doing some research so I have a better understanding of how I want to set up my digipak. And I also looked at actual CD packaging in class and started to think about how I wanted to set mine up.


I decided I want to do a four panel digipak and I created a super rough draft of how the layout would look. The digipack would include his rapper name 'rawbabyk', his album name 'Heartbreaker', and all the songs in his album in the back of the packaging. I would also add small details like a company name and website to make it look professional. As you can see I still have a lot to think about for when I actually start setting up the digipak. I just drew this out so I know what information goes where.

Song for the Music Video

So, I know I want to promote Koree's latest album "Heart Breaker" and I do want his music video to be based more around his possessions and items instead of a whole story line. Most of his music promotes a flashy life style and that's fine because that's exactly what I had in mind when I was I visualizing  how I want to do his music video. I'm now just looking for the song to do it on. As of right now I'm in between these two songs

Both of these songs have the the tune I'm looking for. It's upbeat and I'd have a fun time editing to both of the songs. I think I'm going to talk to Koree and see which one he would like to do it on. I also wanted to ask him what he wanted to include for his website since I'm actually hoping he could use the content I'm creating for him. As of right now I know I want to include his merchandise in the website. He has some shirts with his rapper name "rawbabyk" along with the name of his album Heart Breaker. Those shirts are really good for promoting his music and getting his name out there. Here's a screen shot of his shirts that he posted on his Instagram

I'm planning to film Saturday march 7th and possibly Sunday march 8th. I wanted to film at his house so I can get shots of him in his home and him with his nice cars. I also was thinking about maybe going to Miami to get some cool shots in the city. 

Research part 2

So I researched the artists I was suggested to look up. One of them was LSD. Their music videos are just trippy and have a lot of advanced editing and animation in them and their genre isn't rap, it's more upbeat. Their content isn't really what i'm going for with my music video but here's a link to one of their music videos.

Amine, however does fit in with my genre. I watched some of his music videos and it is similar to what I'm wanting to do. Some of his songs are based on girls, his possessions and such and that's basically what i'm going for in my music video. Here's one of his music videos

I searched up Amine's website and I think it's really cute and simple. It's cool because it's basically in an iphone format and it when you click on the site the screen tells you to click and then all these app icons pop up and one of his songs starts playing and you get little message notifications as if you were on your iphone. All the apps icons take you to his content such as his sound cloud, Instagram, youtube, contact information, or tour dates. His website is super creative, I like it. 

Group Meeting

So today we all gathered around and talked about what we are doing for our portfolio projects and everyone was able to give advice and throw in ideas. Luis and Jake are doing a short film based in a virtual reality. Some advice that was given to them was to not have so much dialogue between so many characters and to just `have dialogue between two people. Since you only have five minutes for the short film it was said that in their competition scene with the teens that they should just do the scene with one round instead of multiple rounds of them competing. The next person who talked about their project was Ana. She said that she basically had no idea what she wanted to do but everyone in class helped her out with an idea for her short film. Since Ana immigrated to the U.S everyone gave her the idea to do the short film on the process of her moving her. But instead of the film focusing on how she adjusted in her new school, it would be focused on the legal attributes that affected her through the immigration process. She was talking about this one scene where she wants her character to scream while she rides her bike, so it was suggested that she could use shots of wheels on other vehicles as symbolism. Mariana was the next person to speak about her project. Her idea for her short film was about a women who's husband dies and she sees a random man in a public place and he has all the qualities her husband had and basically seems like her husband except he's dead. We talked about how this story line can go in different ways such as the woman ends up being with the man who may have reincarnated through another person or maybe towards the end you see that she's just making up all this stuff about the man seeming like her husband to cope with her husband's death. It was now up to Mariana to how she was going to execute this idea. Jonathan is also doing a short film and he's choosing to do it on a gay love story. We suggested that instead of the characters actually speaking, there can be an internal dialogue that basically shows what they're thinking in their heads. It was also said that maybe there shouldn't be a 'happy' ending since in the real world, relationships aren't perfect. I was the last one to talk about my music video project and I asked for some advice for the marketing part of my project. It was suggested I could do a audio interview of my artist talking about what his song means and I was also given names of other artists to look at that have something similar to the rap genre I'm doing such as Amine and LSD.
